Scope: Installation of energy efficient tilt-and-turn windows and French doors with Juliet balconies, all in white.
Project Overview:
This project involved constructing two blocks of high-specification flats in Cumbernauld, which were later adopted by North Lanarkshire Council as council properties. The properties featured energy-efficient windows and doors with a U-value of 1.2W/m2K and enhanced security measures, including Secured by Design (SBD) standards for ground floor and vulnerable units.
Measured Benefits:
The development significantly improved the local area, delivering modern, secure, and energy-efficient housing. The U-value of 1.2W/m2K contributes to reduced energy consumption and lower utility bills for residents, while the SBD accreditation ensures enhanced safety and peace of mind.
Challenges:
The site presented logistical complexities due to its tight footprint, previously occupied by a public house, and its proximity to a major secondary school. To minimise disruption, all deliveries were meticulously scheduled outside of the school’s start and finish times.
Outcome:
Despite these challenges, the project was successfully completed to the client’s high standards. The new flats provide a blend of modern design and functionality, contributing to the area’s regeneration while meeting the needs of North Lanarkshire Council and the community.
